ARTIST: c64
Chris Minifie, under the moniker of c64, consistently chooses to push the boundaries of electronic dance music, and remains a constant figure on the underground breakcore / DnB scene.
Known for his hard hitting sets filled with complex drum work, wild mixing skills and creativity, c64 has emerged as one of the most unique breakcore dj`s, often blending the full spectrum of breakcore / jungle / DnB along with other genres and styles into his sets. His range of styles is evident with the range of artists he has performed alongside with, including Amon Tobin, Luke Vibert, Shitmat, Knifehandchop, Jason Forrest, Plaid, Breakage, Klute, Blame, Panacea and Enduser.
Having toured in support of Knifehandchop (USA 2002), a European tour backing Venetian Snares (May 2005), as well as individual European and Japan tours in 2006 and 2007, including his first performance in Russia (July 2007), c64 has firmly entrenched his mark on the international scene. In addition to this, c64 has performed at such well known international events as the Wasted Festival in Berlin, Donau Festival in Austria, Bangface and Technicality in London, Kamikaze Warfare in Rennes, North by Northeast in Toronto, DEMF in Detroit and Murder Channel in Tokyo.
In 2004, c64 was signed to France-based breakcore label Peace Off Records, resulting in the labels first dj mix CD titled "Transitional Days". This explosive 29 track, live-studio dj mix CD, showcases the obvious raw skill and energy poured into his dj sets.
On top of a busy dj schedule, c64 also operates two distinctly different record labels, Dross:tik Records and Make:Shift Records. Dross:tik, formed in 2002, is a label focused around the evolving sounds of breakcore and experimental electronics, while Make:shift Records, started in 2003, delves deep into the sounds of left-field DnB and downtempo / breakbeat. Both labels work on a similar format, with vinyl releases geared towards dj oriented music, while the CD releases tend to focus on artist concept albums that reach outside the scope of conventional breakcore and DnB.
A fixture on the Toronto underground scene and co-operator of Splinter Productions, c64 has been instrumental in the development of breakcore and left-field DnB in Toronto, staging numerous events over the past 7 years featuring international and local artists.
Respected for his absolute devotion to the music and humble approach to the dj`ing, c64 continues to push forward in his performance-based pursuit of creative, challenging and energetic dance music.

ARTIST: MEANDER
What can be said about Conrad Hoyer (aka Ophidian, Trypticon, Cubist Boy, and now Meander), that hasn't already been said? "Critically accomplished, ferociously respected, and incredibly sought after" just scratch the surface. Hand-picked by DJ Ruffneck in 1998 to join his label line-up at the age of 16, Hoyer proceeded to steamroll the Dutch scene, cementing his Ophidian name as one of the biggest up-and-coming producers of the era in the process. In 2001, Conrad joined the juggernaut Enzyme Records and via his prolific nature continued to dominate the Dutch hardcore scene under his Ophidian moniker. In 2004, Hoyer earned a Bachelor of Music Composition and Production degree from the the Utrecht School of Arts and continued to expand and diversify his accomplishments, which now include studio engineer, mastering tech, and producer/composer for the video game industry. He has now arrived at the most sophisticated work of his career as Meander. Designed explicitly to push the envelope as far as possible, his debut release on Low Res in 2008 as Meander (LOW 021 "Dreaming In Reverse") was met with critical praise, sizzling hot sales, and astonishment that the breakcore genre can still be evolved, expounded upon, and dare we say...incredibly listenable. The future is just beginning for the Netherlands' brightest young talent, and Low Res is proud to deliver his most ambitious effort to date.

ARTIST: ÜBERGANG
LOW RES is extremely proud to announce the addition of new artists ÜBERGANG to the factory team roster and their headcrushingly boombastic release, the 'Fear Leader' 12" ep. Everyone loves this record, the pope definitely loves this record. Four smashing tracks of the freshest breakbeat manipulation and annihilation, delivered with an innovation we've come to expect these days from the hotbed that is Berlin. Featuring members GG + JC (aka Christoph de Babalon), this is all-out audio warfare with exquisite production and superior engineering. Übergang are definitely worth watching, as it seems they can slay any ears they come in contact with, and don't say we didn't tell you so.
Assume greatness, and ready your listening sensibility for seduction. Übergang is the real deal and taking over the world with an iron fist!

ARTIST: TARMVRED
We like Tarmvred. No, wait, scratch that. We love Tarmvred. Jonas Johansson is one of the few producers in the new millennium who have actually defined new territory with his devastating songwriting and production style. Relentless yet subdued, intense but refuses to be hopeless, and remains gritty like the scraping of your face across a gravel road without compromising the pursuit of sonic excellence. A true class act on and off the field. We've had eyes on Tarmvred for a first round draft pick ever since Bombardier dropped a cd in the mail with a note assuring that we listen to the cd, simply because it promised to be worth the time for the listen. That's a bold statement in today's world, and boy howdy was he right. That cd ended up being the legendary 'Subfusc' cd on Ad Noiseam label, and it stayed permanently lodged in the HQ cd player for about a year straight. Once we tracked Tarmvred down in Sweden, designing anti-rotor mount disassembly units and electric ooncha speed routing bypass mechanisms, we managed to swindle him into agreeing to release a record on Low Res. Yessir, good times, they keep on rollin - and Tarmvred's at the front of it making it look like a parade.

ARTIST: GR3YMAN & VALERYE BOYBENDER
Valerye Boybender (aka Alicia Gbur - Nice Device, Von Bondies) has over the years become one of the most striking voices to emerge within the Detroit music scene.
Detroit-based producer Gr3yman (aka Michael Madill) has been producing music and sound design projects out of Detroit since the mid-1980s. His work with NineteenPointFiveCollective, as well as his solo productions have been heard accompanying the design and animation of WeWorkForThem and other visionary artists.
With The Message/ Anymore 12" EP on Rematter/ Low Res, Gr3yman's production atmospherics are brought sharply into trackstyle focus by Miss Boybender's shining vocals and devil-may-care lyrics. The title track is remixed for the 12" by Not Robo Boy of NYC/Tokyo trip-video duo Himawari (Rematter/Low Res), as well as Kero (Low Res, Bpitch Control, Shitkatapult, Sender).

ARTIST: I:GOR
A guy we know from the detroit scene, DEREK MICHAEL went to play some shows in poland the summer of 2002 - where he also acquired a stack of hand written cd-r demos from the promoters and local producers. We had just hooked up with KERO for his release and he had also managed to get his hands on this stack of cd demos, which he in turn passed on to us. One thing that was shocking and widely apparent was the diversity of styles among the different cds from this polish scene, and even within the producers track selections themselves. Techno, IDM, gabber, drum and bass. We was diggin it. To make a point out of this weak attempt to tell a story - there was one cd that was absolutely amazing. Fresh ideas, excellent production and a tendency to blow up in the middle of a track. We had to know who this I:GOR person was. Immediately.
Eventually we got in touch with Igor Wilkonsky from Kielce, Poland - one hell of a thuglife place we're told, and a new artist was added to the lineup. producer, promoter, pimp style playboy, I:GOR's about it proper. His first release on LOW RES (015) 'Znak Zapytania' is already a milestone in the catalog, and future efforts are imminent. Also has slamming releases on HANGARS LIQUIDE and M-TRONIC and rumors of appearances on the polish MTV network with a hip-hop side project.

ARTIST: KERO
text swiped from DET.UND web site:
from detroit/windsor area is born another groundbreaking artist unwilling to settle for the sounds of mediocrity and cliche so common in todays electronic universe. KERO aka sohail azad was brought up on the underground sounds of detroit/windsor throughout the better part of the 90s. inspired by unusual sonic landscapes and complex sequencing techniques, KERO developed a taste for the more experimental side of electronic music bringing the sounds of AUTECHRE, APHEX TWIN and RICHARD DEVINE to the virgin ears of many young detroiters. armed with a talent for raw digital mayhem, KERO immersed himself in a constant production frenzy developing his unique signature sound blending complex and experimental programming tactics with the more harsh and dark sonic sculpture of harder loop tek. along side his audio production, KEROs digital multimedia sensor activated video installations and cutting edge print artwork has drawn attention from many and made him one of the key multimedia designers in the detroit/windsor underground and we do mean deep...
you can find KEROs releases on german labels BPITCH CONTROL, SHITKATAPULT and SENDER REC. as well as detroit labels LOW RES, LIVEWIRE, GHOSTLY and FEED THE MACHINE. KERO also remixed for METAMATICS on the english label HYDROGEN DUKEBOX.

ARTIST: CDATAKILL
Parlaying his efforts into his release through the 'playing with knives' (LOW 011) remix project with ABELCAIN previously remixing (decimating) two tracks featured on this release, LOW 012 'Severity Of Gravity' gave us the honor of bringing the original versions to the press, in addition to two new tracks for a full artist project almost one year in the make. With that said, we couldnt be more thrilled to introduce CDATAKILL (zak roberts) as a LOW RES flagship artist for the next deca of the discography.
CDATAKILL resides in the quiet suburbs of denver colorado, has a rap sheet a mile long, and has released on a bootyfull of labels such as CFET, ADNOISEAM, HARDLINE, NO ROOM FOR TALENT and EUPHOLUS.

ARTIST: DJ TENSE
Prepare for high test evil, doin our first east coast damage kickin it from queens (new york city), BOBBY TENSE throws it down LOW RES style - Relentless experimental speedcore executed with atom splitting precision... smoothed over with a classic NYC "fuck you" attitude. What better sentiment to express on the milestone TENTH release for LOW RES RECORDS. Vinyl mastered at SOUND ENTERPRISES.
Bobby Tense is one of the proprietors of APOCALYPSE RECORDINGS, is one half of the notorious F.U.H.D., and has released his fine blend of splatterized screamcore on a plethora of other labels, B.E.A.S.T. and INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH among them. He's also an amazing studio engineer - the boy got SKILLS.

ARTIST: HIMAWARI
Born circa 1998 in New York City (and currently now based in Tokyo), HIMAWARI, is Takeshi Ichikawa and Lena. They originally met at a Ryuichi Sakamoto event in the city and quickly realized they shared a similar vision for music making.
HIMA's musical style, presentation and beautiful images have been lauded in various venues around NYC, such as Halcyon, Liquid, Tonic and the infamous Dumbo warehouse events. Soon after establishing their growing following in NYC, they partnered with a Detroit record label and began to conquer the Midwest, making their debut at the heavily techno-influenced event, LIFEFEST, and also at several clubs around the holy land of all that is techno, Detroit.
In Winter of 2001, HIMA released their first full length album, "Mineral" on Detroit's Rematter Music, alternative electronic format and sister label of renowned breakcore label LOW RES Records of Detroit. For the duo, becoming label-mates of such acts as Bombardier, Venetian Snares and I:gor, had a large impact on HIMA's music.
But HIMA's activity wasn't limited to the U.S. To much acclaim, they toured Belgium and Tokyo twice with Ceephax Acid Crew, label-mates and brother of one of their bigger influences, Squarepusher. Soon after, HIMA began appearing at monthly events around metropolitan Tokyo, including "Electric Rose" and "Electric Pub", sponsored by "Sonar Sound Tokyo" planners, Third Ear. They also found their way to "COEXIST" at Nishi Azabu Bul-let's.
Himawari has also appeared on a compilation album from independent Frankfurt label, SHIBUYAHOT/Apricot Records and on "DET.UND.03" from DJ Kero's label, DET.UND (Detroit-underground) in good company alongside artists such as Richard, Devine, Modeselektor and Phon.o.

ARTIST: VENETIAN SNARES
text swiped from the planet-mu web site:
"I discovered this ep called "Greg hates Car Culture" as I was leafing thru vinyl downstairs in Minneapolis record store "Let It be". It was by the intruigingly named Venetian Snares. I had already come across the "Venetian Snares" on a web search for something or other and remembered it for being such a great name. This prompted me to take the disc over to the in-store decks. I placed the needle on the record &... it was fucking awesome. So I emailed the address on the record etc etc. Aaron Funk is one of the most talented people making music at the moment, I just have to get all the tracks he makes. It's an obbsession. Just trust me and buy all the cd's he releases, 'cos his shit is hardcore, taking what was drum'n'bass & breakcore totally to another level. Believe."

ARTIST: BOMBARDIER
recording aliases also include: KAMPHETAMINE and 13TH HOUR.
"staying below radar" would be the best phrase to describe bombardier. having four different pseudonames and moving many times since emerging in 1998 makes it difficult to track him.
he began in san francisco, with his earliest releases appearing on LOW RES RECORDS and HANGARS LIQUIDES. then bombardier met kid 606, who brought him onto the VINYL COMMUNICATIONS roster with his first CD release, "violence." soon after, he moved to minneapolis, where he began exploring a variety of new facets in the hardcore electronic scene, leading to three new pseudonames. these included kamphetamine (gabber), 13th hour (industrial), useless generation (hard techno).
in the midwest, he began working intensively with dj adjust and abelcain. this triad began the foundation low res records, based in detroit. most recently, bombardier moved to downtown new york city and founded the new LOW RES sublabel, DIVISION 13, which is a palette for creative works, musical and visual, for him.
bombardier also has releases featured on labels DYSLEXIC RESPONSE, EUPHOLOUS and ADDICT.

ARTIST: DAVROS / ABELCAIN
in the beginning (summer of 1998 to be exact), there is this guy who knows everything - and his name is FISHEAD, and he tells LOW RES about this guy in madison that goes by the name DAVROS and that hes making amigatrax that are going to change the world. so not one to pass up a lead, we eventually track down a fellow named marty frank who in turn sends two cassette tapes marked 'DAVROS' and 'DAVROS2' - needless to say what was heard changed the way we all think at LOW RES forever. these first demos became the blueprint for martys first release 'food for the gods', which is by far the most collectable and coveted release in the LOW RES discography to date. slamming intense hardcore breakbeats performed with unprecedented style, depth and definition. from an uncanny nice guy comes some of the darkest and fiercest tracks ever created. as the DAVROS style matured, the ABELCAIN alias was brought to life to develop a sound that was a bit more sublime and subversive in its approach, ultimately tearing new life into the model of breakbeats and hard dnb. truly an innovator and originator, as far as were concerned - the genius that is marty frank opened, wrote, and closed the BOOK.
a one time roommate of DISTORT label founder and partner UNIBOMBER in madison wisconsin, a member of the now defunct but legendary MMMMEAT (which also featured DOORMOUSE and ANONYMOUS) and also performed as one half of PSIONIC PFISTFUCK with SUBSTANCE P. also has releases on ADDICT, REFLUX, CRIPPLED CHILDREN and ZHARK.

ARTIST: ADJUST / THEEQ
Adjust (or DJ Adjust depending which flyer you're looking at), once known to have delayed the historic 'The Key To Time' project for over nine months due to artwork incompetence, and several vinyl releases even longer. The EP 'Your Bad Luck' (014) is named after middle school tribulations of jumping off a fence and landing on your head. It's a true story, really. A member of the Equinauts, also known as Theeq (pron: the-eq, sort of). Coincidentally and previously, a member and producer of tracks on the electro record label
V-MAX in detroit as well. Over 10 years of djing and previous appearances on the Lollapalooza and URB magazine tours, rumor has it the LOW RES label was started with funds garnered from spinning house music opening a gig for
Little Louie Vega and
Tony Humphries. Oh the irony.
Not a lot has changed. Adjust still has a bunch of house records in the crate (and the ocassional hey-soul DEVO classic) at a DJ residency in Detroit and he still delays the game. This guy is late for everything, dont invite him anywhere. end of story.
